6-Day Essential Route
Overview
Get ready for a quick but exciting trip across Sri Lanka. This journey packs in the country’s top highlights in just six days. You will explore ancient rock fortresses like Sigiriya and climb up to amazing viewpoints. Along the way, you can taste fresh tea straight from the cool mountain plantations in Nuwara Eliya and see wildlife up close at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is a perfect choice if you want to experience the local culture without feeling rushed.
The adventure moves from the misty hills down to the sunny coastline. You will ride a scenic train to Ella and walk across the famous Nine Arch Bridge. Later, the route takes you to a historic Dutch Fort by the sea in Galle and into the busy streets of Colombo. Every stop gives you a new taste of the island’s unique history, food, and natural beauty.
Itinerary
Day 01
- Arrival in Colombo Airport.
- ApeLanka Tours tour guide will meet you & welcome you at the arrival gate with orchid garlands.
- En-route visits Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where 80 disabled Elephants & babies are kept.
- Baby Elephants feeding.
- You will be directly heading to Dambulla Hotel.
- (Overnight stay at Dambulla Hotel).
Day 02
- After relax breakfast at hotel start travel to Sigiriya and explore UNESCO world heritage Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
- Enjoy Hiriwadunna village trip and experience bullock cart trip/ vessel trip/ tree hut/ village cooking demonstration & Tuktuk trip.
- After that start traveling to Kingdom Kandy.
- En-route visit Matale Spice Garden (Authentic Sri Lankan spices & it’s hand made products).
- En-route visit Dambulla Cave Temple.
- In the afternoon visit Temple of Tooth Kandy (Loard Buddhas sacred tooth relic).
- Next all can entertain in Kandy Cultural show(3 dancing styles in Sri Lanka).
- Evening check in to Kandy Hotel.
- (Overnight stay at Kandy Hotel).
Day 03
- After relax breakfast at hotel go-off to check amazing Sri Lankan Gem & Jewellary Museum.
- Visit Kandy public market.
- Next visit authentic Sri Lankan Batik clothing, silk, art & craft galleries.
- In the afternoon start traveling Nuwara Eliya.
- En-route visit Temple loop (Embekke Temple Woodcarving, Gadoladeniya Stone carving, Lankathilaka Image House).
- En-route visit & explore Ambuluwawa Mountain View tower & Nature Reserve.
- Explore Ramboda Waterfall.
- Damro Tea factory & tea shop.
- Directly heading to Nuwara eliya & visit city places such as Strawberry Plantation, Victoria Park, Gregory Lake & Colonial Buildings.
- In the evening check in to Nuwara Eliya Hotel.
- (Overnight at Nuwara Eliya Hotel).
Day 04
- Wake up early in the morning 5.00 a.m & Go off with breakfast packets to explore Horton Plains National Park.
- Enjoy a interesting trek to explore World end & Bakers Waterfall.
- Back to Nuwara eliya & Drive to Nanu Oya Railway Station.
- Experience the one of the most beautiful scenic train ride in the world & directly travel to Ella Nature Paradise.
- After that enjoy the breathtaking 360 panoramic view of Little Adams Peak.
- In Ella visit & explore the iconic Nine Arch Bridge & Ella Gap.
- Next check in to Ella hotel.
- (Overnight stay at Ella Hotel).
Day 05
- After breakfast at Ella hotel, you’ll be directly traveling to main city Colombo.
- En-route explore the Ravana Falls that is one of the most popular and picturesque waterfall in Srilanka.short drive for photos and fresh air.
- En-route explore the famous city of Galle & Go on a walk inside the historical Dutch Fort (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
- Walk along the ramparts, explore colonial streets, cafés, and boutiques.
- See Sri Lanka’s traditional stilt fishermen, balancing on poles in the shallow sea.
- En-route you can join a Madu River boat safari and fish therapy.
- Visit Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery.
- Directly proceed to Colombo and enjoy Colombo City Tour & explore Gangarama Temple, Galleface Green, Lotus Tower, One Galleface mall,Colombo railway station, Port City Beach.
- Check in to Colombo Hotel.
- (Overnight stay at Colombo Hotel).
Day 06
- After breakfast relaxing drive to Colombo airport & assist in the departure.
